Hi everyone!
I would first like to say that Zoe Sugg aka Zoella, blogger and youtuber, inspired me to write this. She wrote something similar this month and I totally agree with her.
Secondly I'd like to say that this is my first ever blogpost and that I am very new to this, so if I do something wrong, please let me know :).
So let's get to the point of this blogpost. The hate on the internet, especially on Youtube.
I am that kind of girl that comes home from school and binges Youtube videos, but lately I began to enjoy the concept less. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching video’s, but the concept is a bit weird. The thing that bugs me is the comment system. Now, I don’t know much about the system, so I’ll write about it with the knowledge I got from various youtubers. If I get something wrong about it, please let me know.
When someone posts a video on youtube, you can basically comment whatever you want. You can send loving and encouraging comments, which mind help people to get further and better. But you can also comment mean things, things that you know people will react to. I don’t say that giving your opinion is bad, it obviously isn’t! But you can decide the way you write it. Criticism is great, when it is substantiated. When someone just writes you suck at doing... or you shouldn’t be making... Just stuff without arguments with which a person (because youtubers are still REAL people with real FEELINGS) cannot do anything.
These hate comments affect the people making the video’s. We all know that reading stuff like: “I hate you”, or “Why is this bitch on the internet”, is not the nicest thing you want to do after filming a video.
It wouldn’t be as bad if these comments wouldn’t be on the top of the comment section, because loads of people react on this and go discussing with these people. If this happens, these comments go to the top of the section so it is the first thing a youtuber sees when they read the comments. If the haters would not get any attention at all, they’ll disappear soon enough. It gets less attractive to comment mean things, so this whole hate culture will eventually fade away.
Sorry for this whole ramble, but what I mean is, DON’T pay attention to the haters and DO pay attention to the people who leave nice or argued comments, so that is what the youtubers see the next time they read their comments.
Thanks for reading this whole ramble and leave a comment down below if you know something I could do better. Also let me know if you agree or disagree with me :)
X
